Atavism: Parallel Minds’ One-Knob Spectral Pad Plug-in

Parallel Minds has introduced Atavism, a spectral effect plug-in for macOS and Windows. It turns any audio track into a pad derived from the track’s own harmony. The plug-in works on the spectrum rather than the timing, retaining sustained notes while letting transient hits pass. As a result, it’s not a reverb, delay, or freeze. It follows chord changes and stays in key automatically.

One-Knob Operation

Atavism features a single main knob that blends from the untouched track to a pad made of its longest-held notes. Additional controls include pulsation, shimmer, mix, and two filters. The plug-in offers eight factory presets, nine automatable parameters, and MIDI learn on every knob. It also includes a Short mode for live use, reducing latency to 170 ms.

Designed for Film and Game Composers

The developer highlights use cases in music for picture. Composers can turn a cue into its own ambient bed within a minute. Producers can use it for intros, breakdowns, or ambient versions of finished tracks. On a send, it can process live input such as guitar chords or vocals.Features
