Auralithic has released Audorama 2.0, a major update to its vision-aware digital audio workstation for macOS. The software is designed specifically for cinematic sound design, post-production, and Foley work. It analyzes video content to detect movement, footsteps, and visual events, transforming them into editable sound-design elements directly on the timeline.

This new version significantly expands the software’s capabilities. Audorama 2.0 combines video understanding, audio editing, and sound library management into a single environment. The core analysis and processing happen locally on your computer, ensuring privacy and low latency. Internet access is only required when searching or downloading sounds from integrated online libraries.

Key Features and Workflow

Audorama’s primary strength lies in its ability to accelerate spotting and repetitive editorial tasks. It tracks multiple performers on independent footstep lanes, offering both standard and close-up analysis modes. Visual event detection identifies relevant actions and places them into named, frame-aligned event lanes, which you can review, move, rename, or replace.

The software also includes a Visual Map feature. This turns tracked movement and picture properties into editable automation. Position, direction, speed, and luminance can control level, pan, or effects parameters, allowing the action on screen to shape the sound dynamically.

Furthermore, the timeline editing tools are robust. You can shape fades and crossfades, snap to picture and transients, and use third-party AU and VST3 effects directly within the session. The built-in piano roll allows for instrument region editing and MIDI export.

Sound Library Integration

Auralithic has partnered with Pro Sound Effects to include a curated 20 GB collection of professional recordings locally. Additionally, users get free in-app API access to over 200,000 more PSE sounds and over 600,000 community sounds from Freesound.org. This integration allows you to search your own libraries and online sources from a single panel.

A notable feature is ‘Find Similar’. This allows you to start from a clip already in your cut and find semantically similar audio across offline and online libraries. You can audition alternatives and replace recordings while maintaining timing and track organization.

Pricing and Availability

Audorama 2.0 is available via subscription at $19 per month. There is also a free Base version with no time limit, and a 14-day Trial that unlocks the Professional feature set. The software requires macOS 13 or later on Apple-silicon Macs with an M1 chip or newer. A minimum of 16 GB of RAM is recommended.

For professional workflows, Audorama supports export to AAF, Final Cut Pro XML, broadcast WAV, and MIDI. This ensures compatibility with established post-production pipelines. The application is built for film, TV, advertising, trailers, and games, offering a comprehensive toolset for any project where sound must follow picture closely.
