Furnix: Free Compressor with Saturation & Punch for macOS

Remi Blaze has released Furnix, a free compressor plugin for macOS. It combines feed-forward compression with three saturation modes and a transient Punch circuit. The plugin targets tech house, techno, and electronic music producers.

Compression Engine and Features

Furnix uses a feed-forward topology with an adjustable soft knee from 0 to 30 dB. You can toggle between peak and RMS detection. An envelope follower includes a hold circuit up to 50 ms. Lookahead reaches 5 ms, which helps tame sharp transients. The stereo link is continuously variable from dual-mono to fully linked.

The Heat stage offers three saturation modes: Coals (soft tanh), Flame (cubic), and Blast (asymmetric). Auto-gain compensation and 4x oversampling keep loudness stable. Heat Link drives more saturation as compression increases. Punch re-injects attack energy that compression removes, without affecting sustain.

Sidechain and Monitoring

The sidechain section includes a high-pass filter from 20 to 500 Hz. There is also a mid-focused tilt, an external sidechain input, and a listen mode. Release can lock to musical divisions from the host BPM or blend by crest factor. A parallel mix knob and Delta mode let you hear exactly what the compressor removes.

Real-time gain-reduction metering and a live transfer-curve display are included. A crest-factor health meter shows peak-to-RMS ratio. The plugin ships with 16 presets tuned for tech house, such as Drum Bus Punch, Mix Bus Glue, and Sidechain Pump.

Furnix Raw: One-Knob Version

Furnix Raw is a simplified version with a single SQUEEZE control. It adjusts threshold, ratio, knee, punch, and heat behind the scenes. Auto-gain keeps the level constant. This version is also free and part of the Blaze Essentials pack.

System Requirements and Availability

Furnix requires macOS 15.0 (Sequoia) or later. It runs as a Universal Binary on Apple Silicon and Intel. Formats include AU, VST3, and a standalone app. The plugin is code-signed and notarized by Apple. It is completely free with no limits or watermarks.
