Hazex: Free Algorithmic Reverb for macOS

Remi Blaze has released Hazex, a free algorithmic stereo reverb plugin for macOS. It’s designed for electronic music producers who need lush, controllable spaces without muddying the mix.

What Is Hazex?

Hazex is built on a custom 8-line feedback delay network with a Householder mixing matrix. This ensures even energy distribution across the frequency spectrum. The reverb can go from tight forensic rooms to massive shimmering halls. Size and Decay controls set the space, while Damping, Pre-Delay, and a Tone shelf shape the character.

Moreover, the plugin includes a Vapor control for stereo decorrelation. This widens the stereo image without losing focus. The Early/Late blend lets you balance direct and reflected energy.

Key Features

One standout feature is Ghost Ducking. This internal sidechain ducks the wet signal under loud transients. It uses a 3ms lookahead to react before the attack. As a result, the reverb stays out of the way during busy passages, then blooms back in the gaps.

Another highlight is the Sub-Anchor crossover. It forces low frequencies below 500Hz to mono. This prevents phase cancellation on club systems. Therefore, Hazex is particularly useful for house and techno productions.

Creative tools include Spectral Shimmer, which shifts pitch up 12 semitones in the feedback loop. Reverse Bloom uses grain-based reversal for a sucking effect. Freeze offers infinite sustain. The Master Link scales saturation, high-pass filtering, and ducking together.

For those who prefer simplicity, Remi Blaze also offers Hazex Raw. This is a free one-knob version with a single SPACE control. It’s part of the Blaze Essentials pack and provides the same core reverb engine without the deep controls.
