Playing and Sound Design
The Chromaplane is played using two electromagnetic pickup coils, allowing players to explore a cloud of electromagnetic fields. Its fully analog and polyphonic nature makes it versatile for crafting drones and melodies. The instrument’s 4-pole low pass filter and lo-fi delay/echo effect add depth and character to the sound.
Tuning and Control
Each of the ten fields on the Chromaplane can be finely tuned using adjustment screws. The oscillators are organized into three rows with octave switches, offering a wide range of pitch control. The voltage-controlled filter and delay parameters can be modulated for dynamic sound shaping.
