Maschine 3.7 Adds Three New Sequencing Tools

Native Instruments has released Maschine 3.7, a free update for all Maschine 3 users. This update marks the first major feature addition since the InMusic acquisition. It arrives on the company’s 30th anniversary, signaling that Maschine remains a priority.

Three New Sequencing Tools

The core of this update is three new tools designed to inject spontaneous variation into your patterns. These tools work for percussive, melodic, and chord patterns.

Random Note Generator

The Random Note Generator lets Maschine write notes based on probability. You set the odds and start from an idea instead of an empty grid. It also includes adjustable velocity randomization.

Euclidean Sequencer

The Euclidean Sequencer distributes events evenly across a set number of steps. A live mode lets you adjust step length, events, and rotation in real time while the loop runs.

Note Event (Chance)

Note Event gives every note its own chance value. Maschine re-rolls on each loop, keeping the pattern constantly shifting. Probability Lock lets you freeze a take at the perfect moment.

A Welcome Addition, But Not Groundbreaking

These tools are a welcome addition for any producer looking to break out of a creative rut. However, it’s worth noting that probability-based note generation and Euclidean sequencing have long been standard in other DAWs. Maschine is catching up rather than breaking new ground.

Nevertheless, the update is free, making it an easy upgrade for existing users. Support for Maschine+ is coming soon, but not yet available.

Maschine 3.7 is available now as a free download for all Maschine 3 users. You can get it through Native Access or the NI app.

For those who don’t own Maschine 3 yet, the full version including Maschine Central is priced at $109.00. The update-only version costs $37.00. But the 3.7 update itself is free.

This update demonstrates that Native Instruments is committed to evolving Maschine. The three new tools address common creative blocks. While they may not be revolutionary, they are practical and useful. For existing users, it’s a no-brainer to update.
