SBRK Devices Zerua Nahasi: Polyphonic Granular Eurorack Synth
SBRK Devices Unveils Zerua Nahasi: A New Granular Powerhouse
SBRK Devices has officially introduced the Zerua Nahasi, a new polyphonic granular synthesizer designed for the Eurorack modular format. This highly anticipated module was first hinted at during Machina Bristronica 2025 and is now making its debut, promising extensive sound design capabilities for electronic music producers. The Zerua Nahasi aims to function as a comprehensive ‘granulation laboratory,’ offering a wide array of sonic exploration.
Versatile Granular Engines and Audio Sources
At the core of the Zerua Nahasi are four independent stereo granular engines. These engines can be used either separately or in combination, providing a broad palette for sound manipulation. Each slot boasts the capacity to hold over 20 seconds of audio, allowing for substantial sample material. Users can load samples conveniently from an SD card. Alternatively, audio can be recorded directly via the stereo audio input, facilitating live sampling and processing. This flexibility ensures that the module can adapt to various creative workflows. For instance, each granulation engine can process the same or entirely different samples, expanding creative possibilities significantly. Moreover, the device includes a dedicated live mode, allowing it to function as a granular delay, adding unique time-based effects to incoming signals.
In-Depth Control and Sonic Shaping
The Zerua Nahasi provides comprehensive control over its main granulation parameters. These include grain position, grain length, density, pitch/speed, envelope shape, and stereo image. Importantly, all these parameters are equipped with CV control, enabling deep integration within a modular system. This allows for dynamic and evolving textures through external modulation. Furthermore, randomization options are available, encouraging experimentation and the discovery of unique sonic outcomes. The module currently offers multiple granulation modes, such as varispeed and stretching, with SBRK Devices planning to introduce more modes via future firmware updates. Additionally, an onset/transient detection feature helps in precisely timing granular events, making it a more musical tool.
Integrated Reverb and Technical Specifications
Beyond its powerful granulation features, the Zerua Nahasi incorporates a stereo convolution reverb. This adds an extra layer of spatial depth to the processed audio. The module comes pre-loaded with several impulse responses, including those inspired by iconic spaces in Barcelona. Crucially, users can also load their own custom impulse responses from an SD card, offering limitless possibilities for reverb textures.Regarding its physical attributes, the Zerua Nahasi is a 30 HP module with a depth of 39 mm. Its power consumption is specified as +12V: 230 mA and -12V: 230 mA. These specifications are vital for proper planning within a Eurorack system, ensuring compatibility and stable operation.Features
