Predictor is a unique plug-in and app designed to generate notes, triads, and voicings through simple clicks. It works by learning from existing MIDI files to predict new musical ideas, making it ideal for electronic music producers seeking fresh inspiration or looking to overcome creative blocks.

How Predictor Works

Predictor analyzes various musical features from MIDI files, including cadences, note relationships, velocities, piece position, and modulations. Based on this analysis, it predicts new notes and chords that users can trigger using a mouse, computer keyboard, or MIDI controller. This approach allows producers to control the rhythm while Predictor handles the note generation, creating an interactive and expressive experience.

Interactive and Expressive Music Creation

Each tap or trigger launches the next predicted note or chord, so the flow depends entirely on the user’s timing. This means that users are actively shaping how the musical phrases unfold, rather than passively listening to generated sequences. The tool encourages exploration, offering unexpected melodies and chord progressions that can open new creative paths.

Keyboard Zones and Playing Modes

Predictor divides the keyboard into three zones: low (up to F2), mid (F2–F4), and high (from F4 onwards). Users can trigger single notes or chords in these zones using the QWERTY keyboard or mouse clicks. When using a MIDI controller, there is added flexibility to play triads in any range, not limited to the mid zone.

For those without a MIDI controller, Predictor includes a QWERTY playing mode that detects note-on and note-off events and intelligently predicts velocities based on the learned MIDI file. This feature allows for a more natural playing experience despite the limitations of a computer keyboard.
