AudioThing B00GA: Microsound to Rhythm & Drone Plugin

AudioThing, in collaboration with Hainbach, has released B00ga, a new plugin designed to transform microsounds into complex rhythms and drones. This instrument offers distinctive textural sound design capabilities for producers and musicians. Notably, 800GA draws inspiration from the vintage Hewlett-Packard Word Generator 800GA, a piece of lab equipment.
Essentially, B00ga reinterprets the word generator concept. It sequences clicks, pulses, and noise in a novel way. Consequently, users can create tight grooves, off-kilter beats, and evolving micro-sound patterns. Furthermore, speeding up these patterns allows for the generation of rich drones and tonal structures.
Deep Dive into B00ga’s Capabilities
At its core, B00ga functions as a dual sequencer for both pulses and noise. It offers a wide speed range, from 0.1 Hz up to 5 kHz. Also, the plugin includes a crossfading sample player. This allows for selection from 29 factory banks or the incorporation of user-provided samples. The ability to crossfade between sounds creates new combinations. Randomization further ensures that patterns remain dynamic and never sound identical. Moreover, a dedicated noise synthesizer section provides tools to generate, filter, and shape noise bursts. This is particularly useful for crafting percussion and crackling textures.
