Vienna Symphonic Library Launches Synchron Duality Strings

Vienna Symphonic Library has announced the release of Synchron Duality Strings (ostinato), the sixth installment in their acclaimed Duality Strings series. This collection is specifically designed for composers looking to create intricate string ostinatos. The library features two distinct string ensembles that were recorded simultaneously in separate rooms at the renowned Vienna Synchron Stage.

Following the Duality Principle established in the series, a large ensemble performed in the spacious Stage A, while a smaller ensemble provided a drier sound in Stage B. This unique simultaneous recording process guarantees aligned performances that can be blended together to achieve various sonic outcomes. As a result, composers can enjoy enhanced flexibility when crafting their soundscapes.

Real-Time Ostinato Generation

One of the standout features of the Synchron Duality Strings (ostinato) library is its ability to generate ostinatos in real-time. This is achieved from single notes captured during the performance, which are then reassembled by the Vienna Synchron Player‘s advanced algorithms. This clever process creates natural-sounding transitions and variations, effectively avoiding the pitfalls of mechanical repetition.

User-Friendly Interface

The Vienna Synchron Player also includes a Flow View interface, allowing composers to shape rhythmic patterns by either playing live or editing notes directly in a sequencer. This user-friendly feature enhances the creative process, making it easier to experiment with different rhythmic textures.

Articulations and Variants

The library boasts a range of articulations, including spiccatos, short and long détachés, and expressive legatos, with multiple variants for intervals and repetitions. Additionally, users of the first installment, Synchron Duality Strings (regular), will receive a combined preset that incorporates additional articulations, such as sforzatos, tremolos, trills, pizzicatos, and harmonics.

Library Options

The Standard and Full Libraries both include the same articulations, but the Full Library offers a greater number of microphone positions for those seeking more detailed control over their sound.
