Wild Surmise has released Ispín, a free saturation plugin for macOS, Windows, and iOS. It adds weight, warmth, and grit to thin-sounding tracks. You can push it gently for compression and glue, or drive it hard for full distortion.
Simple and Direct
Ispín is designed for quick use. It has four knobs and no manual. The interface is minimalist. You can reach for it without thinking. The name comes from the Irish word for sausage. It reflects the idea of taking something thin and packing it full.
Three Character Controls
The plugin offers three main controls for shaping the sound. Richness manages density and drive. It ranges from subtle thickening to heavy saturation. Colour tilts the harmonics from dark to bright. As a result, the dirt sits exactly where you want it. Roughness drives the waveform off-centre. This introduces buzz, grind, and edge. Features
- Richness: from subtle thickening to heavy saturation
- Colour: tilts harmonics dark to bright
- Roughness: drives waveform off-centre for edge
- Free for desktop and iOS
- Formats: AU, VST3, CLAP on macOS 11+ and Windows 10+
- AUv3 on iOS and iPad
Availability
Ispín is currently at version 0.1.2. It is available for download from the Wild Surmise website. The iOS version is on the App Store. An interactive demo runs in your browser via WebAssembly and WebAudio. Therefore, you can try the DSP engine before downloading. The plugin is free. Consequently, there is no price to worry about. It works as an AUv3 on iPhone and iPad. On desktop, it supports AU, VST3, and CLAP formats. In summary, Ispín is a straightforward saturation tool. It is ideal for producers who need a quick fattener. Its unique tone controls set it apart. Moreover, its cross-platform availability makes it accessible. Finally, the free price tag is an added bonus.
