U&I Software Releases MetaSynth CTX 2.x Image-to-Audio DAW

U&I Software MetaSynth CTX 2.x

U&I Software has released MetaSynth CTX 2.x, a major update to the company’s image-to-audio Digital Audio Workstation for macOS. The update introduces architecture enhancements, workflow improvements, and advanced sound design tools. In addition, the developer has launched ArtMatic Designer CTX 2.x, an updated version of its audio-visual synthesis environment. A free 21-day full-use trial is available for both applications.

What Is New in MetaSynth CTX 2.x

MetaSynth is a standalone DAW that translates images into sound. It features its own specialized sequencers, internal synth and sampler plugins, effects engines, and a multi-track mixing environment. The 2.x update refines nearly every part of the application.

For instance, Dynamic Image Synth Presets turn .presets files into dynamic mini-databases. As a result, users can organize, tag, and recall presets more efficiently. Moreover, Quantized Live Image Synth allows real-time preset switches to wait for measure boundaries, so playback continues smoothly even when image sizes vary.

Spectrum Synth 2.0 and HiDef Audio Engine

Spectrum Synth 2.0 now offers four times the slice resolution for ultra-precise spectral analysis and resynthesis. It also includes a new multithreaded rendering engine for rapid processing, plus advanced formant tools for vocal and harmonic manipulation.

Another key addition is the HiDef Audio Engine. It provides a pure, uncompressed audio path with no built-in limiting or randomization. Therefore, the full dynamic range and fidelity of the source material are preserved.

Workflow and Recording Improvements

The update also simplifies recording. Users can plug in any USB microphone or input device and record directly into MetaSynth. Consequently, no external audio interface configuration is required.

Furthermore, the new Nested Project Architecture hosts multiple .presets inside a single Montage and multiple Montage arrangements within one unified project. Meanwhile, macOS Finder integration adds full drag-and-drop support for audio and image files. Streamlined IS Sound Folders also allow a clean, from-scratch re-render of graphics-to-audio assets.

Additional improvements include A4 440 Hz frequency standardization across MetaSynth and the Xx sequencer, as well as native odd-meter looping for cycles of 3, 5, 7, or more beats.

Features

  • Dynamic Image Synth Presets with tagging and smart recall
  • Quantized Live Image Synth for smooth real-time preset switching
  • Spectrum Synth 2.0 with four times the slice resolution
  • Multithreaded rendering engine and advanced formant tools
  • HiDef Audio Engine with uncompressed audio pathing
  • Direct recording via USB microphones and input devices
  • Nested Project Architecture for Montages and presets

  • A4 440 Hz frequency standardization
  • Native odd-meter looping support

ArtMatic Designer CTX 2.x

Alongside MetaSynth, U&I Software has also released ArtMatic Designer CTX 2.x. This audio-visual environment combines procedural graphics, animation, and sound design. Users can build synthesizers to generate samples, or use sound to control visual and 3D systems.

The update adds complete synth editing in a single text view. In addition, the audio engine now supports 48 kHz operation alongside 44.1 kHz. The number of Image-to-Audio Read patterns has doubled from two to four, and three new example synthesizers are included. ArtMatic CTX 2.x also introduces drag-and-drop support for images and video, Ray Tracing to OBJ export for 3D printing, and optimized file management.

Price and Availability

MetaSynth CTX 2.x is available now for macOS from $343.85. ArtMatic Designer + Voyager CTX 2.x can be purchased from the U&I Software store, with upgrade pricing available on request. Both applications offer a free 21-day full-use trial.
