Tunary Instruments has launched ARGISH Pocket, a mobile version of its self-playing synthesizer ARGISH, now available on Google Play for Android. The app uses the same generative engine as the desktop plug-in, allowing it to compose continuously without any user input. As a result, it generates chords, a bassline, an arpeggio, and drums in real time, always in key.

Once opened, ARGISH Pocket immediately starts playing. The harmony is steered via a wheel at the center of the screen. Moving it shifts the music between calmer and tenser or lighter and darker, while the arrangement continues in time. This hands-on control makes the app suitable for both casual exploration and more deliberate sound design.

Generative Engine and Controls

Five mood presets—Gentle, Haze, Deep, Still, and Epic—set the overall character with a single tap. In addition, an Evolve control lets a piece develop further on its own. The settings drawer exposes the full instrument: tempo from 40 to 200 BPM, any key, six voices with brightness, attack, and release controls, a five-channel mixer, reverb, and independent drum and bass patterns.

An Arrange section defines the length of a piece, from 30 seconds to continuous, along with the shape of its dynamics. Meanwhile, twelve accent colors are available for the interface, offering a degree of visual customization. The app is designed to be intuitive, yet it retains enough depth for users who want to tweak every parameter.

MIDI Output and Integration

ARGISH Pocket also sends MIDI. It outputs chords on channel 1, the arpeggio on channel 2, bass on channel 3, and drums on channel 10. Consequently, it can drive external plug-ins and hardware directly from a phone. MIDI output is off by default and is enabled with a single switch, making setup straightforward.
