Fuimadane has released DrumCloud v1.9.0-beta.8, the latest public beta of its free granular sample instrument for Linux, Windows and macOS. This update brings several fixes and improvements. Notably, it corrects stereo output in Ardour VST3 and resolves waveform marker instability when using multiple DrumCloud instances in the same project.

What’s New in Beta.8
Beta.8 focuses on stability and usability. It fixes stereo output in Ardour VST3, ensuring both left and right outputs reach the host correctly. Additionally, it stabilizes waveform markers when multiple instances run simultaneously. Each plugin instance now keeps its own scan playhead, grain markers, slice boundaries, active slice and detected pitch. Moreover, the Filtered Delay Mode can be switched between Off, Stereo and Ping Pong. Linux desktop portal sample selection and external system-browser support from beta.7 remain included.

Features
DrumCloud supports WAV, FLAC and MP3 samples. Its feature set includes granular playback, transient-based slicing, polyphonic MIDI slicing, pitch detection, time stretching, loop, one shot and ping pong playback modes, filtered delay and output protection. Despite this comprehensive feature list, DrumCloud remains exceptionally lightweight. The Linux beta package is only 273 KB compressed.

Platform Support
The instrument is available in several formats. Linux x86-64 users get CLAP and VST3 versions. Windows 10/11 x86-64 also supports CLAP and VST3. macOS 10.15 and later includes universal Intel and Apple Silicon binaries for CLAP, VST3 and AU. Consequently, DrumCloud works across major DAWs and operating systems.

Availability
DrumCloud v1.9.0-beta.8 is free to download. The source code and release packages are available on the official repository. Since this is a beta version, users should expect potential bugs. However, the developer actively addresses issues and encourages feedback. For producers interested in granular synthesis, DrumCloud offers a solid, free starting point.
