AudioScout: Fast Local SFX Library Search for Mac & Windows

ProSound has released AudioScout, a standalone sound-effects workflow application for macOS and Windows. The tool targets sound designers, podcast editors and post-production professionals who work with large local SFX libraries.
Search, Audition, Queue, Deliver
AudioScout is built around a simple four-step workflow: search, audition, queue and deliver. Users point the app at folders on local or external drives and index their existing libraries. The hierarchy is preserved, so users keep the folder structure they already know.
Search results can be auditioned instantly using the keyboard arrow keys. Selected sounds are collected in a Queue, which can then be exported in three ways: to any folder, to a DAW project bin, or directly into the Clip List of an active Pro Tools session. The direct Pro Tools integration requires version 2023.6 or later.
Local-First and No Subscription
Unlike subscription-based sound-library platforms, AudioScout requires no account, no login and no cloud storage. The application works offline, and users’ sound files remain on their own drives. According to the developer, the tool was tested against a professional library of more than 129,000 sounds.
In addition, a bonus feature called External Sources allows users to discover compatible free sound-effects packs and turn them into indexed local libraries. However, the core workflow does not depend on these third-party sources.
