A2D Sound Introduces Squeeze

A2D Sound has released Squeeze, a new plugin for macOS and Windows. It works as a VST3 and AU instrument. The plugin replaces a track or bus processing chain with one engine. Saturation, compression, EQ, clipping, limiting, transient shaping, and width are built from a single reading of the source. This happens in one phase-coherent pass. The idea is to simplify the mixing process. Instead of stacking multiple plugins, you get one tool that handles everything.

How Squeeze Works

The workflow is short. First, you pick one of 27 source types. These include single instruments, drum and instrument busses, and two for the mix bus. Then you choose Clean, Warm, or Aggressive. After that, you play a few seconds and hit Learn. Squeeze measures peak, RMS, mid and side energy, and high-frequency content. It then builds the chain and sets the front panel. Every parameter stays live afterwards. You can bypass any module on its own with a double-click.

The Learn function is a standout feature. It analyzes the audio and automatically sets the processing chain. This saves time and ensures a consistent starting point. Additionally, you can still tweak everything manually. Therefore, it combines automation with full control.

What Squeeze Is Not

Squeeze is not a corrective tool. It enhances what is already there and does not remove resonances. This means it works best on already decent recordings. Moreover, it is not designed for fixing problem tracks.
