Ableton Move: New Firmware Update Adds USB Sampling & Polyphonic Aftertouch

New Firmware Update 1.3
Ableton Move, the portable hardware sketchbook/groovebox, now supports sampling via USB-C with the latest firmware update 1.3. This update allows users to sample audio from connected computers, smartphones, or tablets directly into the Move, expanding its creative possibilities.
The firmware update also introduces the ability to solo tracks, longer browser entries display, and default audio output settings when used as an audio interface. Additionally, Move now sends out polyphonic aftertouch when set to MIDI Out, enhancing expressiveness when using external MIDI controllers.
Previous Updates
Previous updates like version 1.2 brought MIDI sync capabilities, enabling synchronization with external MIDI devices, while version 1.1.2 introduced new features like a 16-pitch layout for drum samples, arpeggiator modes, and control surface functionality for Ableton Live.
Ableton Move Hardware
The Move hardware features 32 velocity-sensitive pads, polyphonic aftertouch, encoders, a jog wheel, and multifunctional buttons. Weighing just 0.97kg, it offers portability with dimensions of W313.5 x D146.3 x H34mm.
With four tracks and selectable instruments, including drum, melodic, and sampler options, Move provides a platform for creative music sketching on-the-go. It also includes a built-in microphone, stereo line input, and USB-C port for sampling and audio connectivity.
