Absynth 6: Advanced Semi-Modular Synth with MPE Support

Native Instruments has announced the release of Absynth 6, a significant update to the classic semi-modular synthesizer. This version has been developed in collaboration with original creator Brian Clevinger, modernizing the instrument with several new features.
Modernized Architecture
Absynth 6 incorporates an AI-powered browsing system, full MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) integration, and enhanced multichannel capabilities. These improvements are aimed at providing musicians with a more intuitive experience. The core remains a hybrid semi-modular engine that blends granular, FM, wavetable, and subtractive synthesis methods.
Advanced Modulation Features
The synthesizer retains its hallmark 68-point envelope generator, allowing for complex modulation and detailed texture sculpting. The introduction of MPE and polyphonic aftertouch support facilitates per-note control over pitch and timbre, offering musicians greater expressive capabilities.
Innovative Preset Explorer
A major workflow enhancement is the new Preset Explorer. Native Instruments implemented a deep-learning model that analyzes the timbral characteristics of presets, arranging them on a 2D visual map. This innovative approach enables users to browse sounds based on sonic texture instead of traditional linear lists.
New Presets from Renowned Artists
Absynth 6 comes equipped with a collection of new presets created by prominent artists such as Brian Eno, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, and Richard Devine. For long-time users, the synthesizer maintains backward compatibility, supporting vintage patches dating back to Absynth 1 and allowing the loading of custom presets from Absynth 4 and 5.
