artcode DAW 2.0 Released

artcode has released version 2.0 of its DAW, adding VST3 plugin hosting and a Windows build. The update is free for existing v1.0 owners. This release also brings the application’s local AI generation to Windows.

VST3 Plugin Hosting

The new VST3 support lets you load third-party instruments and effects. The plugin’s own interface opens, and MIDI learn maps parameters to your controller. Plugins are included in exports. Scanning runs in a separate process, so a crashing plugin won’t take down the app. Anything that fails to load is listed with the reason.

Windows Support

Windows 10 (64-bit) users now get the same feature set as macOS. Project files are interchangeable between platforms. This was a major request from users.

AI Generation Guided by Your Performance

artcode DAW’s AI approach uses your own performance as a guide. You select bars, and the model generates audio that follows your chords and melody. You choose which tracks the model listens to and how closely it follows. It runs locally after downloading the models (about 11GB). Windows requires an NVIDIA GPU.

Other Features

The DAW includes seven instruments, a full effects rack, stem separation, and a song wizard. It also offers a browser version for testing. The AI models for melody generation are bundled and work offline.

Price and Availability

artcode DAW 2.0 is available now for $79. Owners of v1.0 upgrade for free. It runs on macOS 12+ (Apple Silicon) and Windows 10+. No subscription required. No account or online activation is needed.

Pros

  • VST3 plugin hosting with separate process scanning
  • AI generation guided by user's own performance, fully local
  • Windows support now available, cross-platform project files

Cons

  • No AU or VST2 support, only VST3
  • AI features require Apple Silicon or NVIDIA GPU, and large model download
