AstroLab 61: Versatile 61-Key Stage Keyboard with Virtual Synthesis

Introduction to AstroLab 61-Key Stage Keyboard
AstroLab is a 61-key stage keyboard designed to combine the power of virtual synthesis with intuitive controls and a seamless transition from studio to stage. It offers musicians a versatile instrument that blends piano-feel playability with advanced sound design capabilities, making it suitable for both live performance and production environments.
Extensive Sound Library and Preset Access
AstroLab provides instant access to a wide range of expertly engineered instrument presets. These include classic sounds such as the gritty Wurlitzer electric piano, the swirling tones of the B-3 organ, and the metallic chimes of the DX7. Users can browse presets by instrument type and quickly switch between styles using dedicated preset buttons, facilitating smooth transitions during performances.
Diverse Synthesis Engines and Sound Processing
The keyboard features multiple synthesis engines, including Physical Modelling, Wavetable, and Granular synthesis. This variety allows for the creation of a broad spectrum of sounds, from traditional harmonic resonances to experimental textures and futuristic effects. Additionally, synthesis-based processing enables musicians to dynamically alter sounds, such as adjusting the hardness of a piano or adding warmth through analog filters.
Performance Effects and Modulation
AstroLab includes dedicated Delay and Reverb effects, along with two customizable insert effects. Users can select room shapes ranging from jazz clubs to factory halls and choose from 12 insert effects to enhance their sound. Furthermore, when paired with Arturia’s V Collection software, AstroLab allows advanced modulation by assigning effects to any instrument parameter, enabling dynamic control during live performances.
Multi-Instrument Presets and Keyboard Splitting
The keyboard supports multi-instrument presets, allowing users to layer sounds such as combining a keyboard tone with an ambient pad or adding a synth arpeggio over strings. Musicians can create and edit these multis directly on AstroLab or via Analog Lab software. Additionally, an external MIDI keyboard can be connected to control each part separately, expanding performance possibilities.
Integration and Workflow Compatibility
AstroLab functions as a standalone instrument or integrates with production workflows through Analog Lab Pro software. This integration enables users to sync sounds, edit presets and effects, manage playlists, and record multitrack projects, all mirrored within their digital audio workstation (DAW). The keyboard also supports remote access to additional sound banks via the Sound Store, which is regularly updated with new content inspired by various genres and artists.
Design and Build Quality
The keyboard features a modern, minimalist design focused on simplicity and durability. It includes an attachable music stand for convenience and is compatible with Arturia’s Wooden Legs accessory, which provides an ergonomic and stylish setup for studio and stage use. The chassis is built to withstand the demands of professional performance environments.
Advanced Sound Modeling Technologies
AstroLab utilizes Arturia’s proprietary TAE® (True Analog Emulation) technology to accurately reproduce the sonic characteristics of analog synthesizers at the component level. This includes detailed emulation of oscillators, filters, and soft clipping effects. For acoustic and electro-acoustic instruments, the keyboard employs Phi physical modeling technology, which uses mathematical algorithms to recreate the unique sound properties of each instrument with high realism.
