Animal Factory Amplification, an Indian boutique manufacturer known for its guitar pedals and Eurorack modules, has introduced its first standalone synthesizer, the ASURA. This six-voice polyphonic wavetable synth combines digital wavetable synthesis with a signature analog fuzz circuit, offering a distinctive sonic palette from lush pads to gritty leads.

The Feature Set

ASURA is a hybrid instrument, pairing two wavetable oscillators per voice with an on-board analog fuzz. It also includes a delay effect, making it a self-contained sound design workstation. The synth offers six-voice polyphony, but you can also switch to three-voice, unison, chord, or arpeggiator modes. Modulation comes from two LFOs, two envelopes, and pressure-sensitive control, all routable via an assignable modulation matrix.

Control and Integration

Consequently, the ASURA provides complete parameter control via MIDI TRS and USB-C. An isolated USB-C port ensures noise-free connection to DAWs. Moreover, there are gate, V/Oct, clock in/out, and two extra assignable CV inputs for modular integration. In addition, a high-quality headphone amplifier can drive 300-ohm headphones, and the built-in 8-step sequencer adds performance possibilities.

Preset Management and Editor

You can save up to 25 presets on the device itself, and a comprehensive web editor allows for more presets, custom wavetables, modulation matrix tweaks, and firmware updates. Therefore, the ASURA is a flexible and future-proof instrument.
