AudioKit has introduced SUPER 606 DRUMS, a new drum machine app for iPhone and iPad. This software synthesizes every drum sound in real time, avoiding samples entirely. As a result, each hit feels unique and organic.

Inspired by a Classic

SUPER 606 takes its name and visual cues from a legendary analog drum machine. However, it is not affiliated with Roland or the TR-606 trademark. Instead, it offers a modern approach with a dedicated drum synthesis engine.

The app works standalone or as an AUv3 plugin. It includes clock sync via MIDI, Ableton Link, or internal timing. Moreover, each drum track supports multi-outputs in AUv3 mode, giving you flexible routing for mixing and processing.

Sequencing and Performance Features

You can record patterns using drum pads. Per-step controls let you set normal, ghost, or accent levels. Ratchets offer 2x, 3x, and 4x substeps for rapid-fire rolls. Additionally, nine flam types are available, including an ahead-of-the-beat mode.

The Magic Preset Maker generates combined sound, effects, groove, and tempo settings. Smart Fills function adapts to the current pattern. Per-track Last Step and Swing controls help create evolving patterns and polyrhythms. MIDI controller support and MIDI Learn are also included.
