Introducing Bohm: A Versatile Eurorack Kick Drum Module

The Bohm Eurorack module offers an innovative approach to kick drum synthesis, featuring nine unique kick models with ongoing expansions. Designed for electronic music producers and modular enthusiasts, Bohm provides precise sound-shaping controls that make crafting the perfect kick drum straightforward and creative.

Core Features of the Bohm Module

The main module allows users to adjust key parameters such as Length for overall kick duration, Sustain to balance punch and body, and Attack to control transient snap. Additionally, tuning options include Pitch control with V/Oct tracking and a Pitch Curve to morph between classic 808 and 909-style pitch envelopes. The Transient Decay setting further refines the punch and presence of the kick.

For tonal shaping, the Color knob adjusts harmonic content from warm analog tones to bright wavetable sounds, while the FX control applies onboard processing such as clipping, wavefolding, and distortion. The Transient Tone parameter shapes the timbre of the transient, allowing for darker or brighter attack sounds.

Expandable Kick Engine with Customization

Bohm supports a Micro SD card that stores nine factory model files and enables users to load new wavetables or samples. This feature allows for extensive customization and expansion of kick drum sounds. The Function control offers two modes: Producer mode randomizes the current model to inspire creativity, while Performer mode advances a custom kick sequence.

Bohm Expanders: Groove and Performer Modules

Bohm:groove Expander

The Bohm:groove module acts as a right-side expander that creates dynamic percussive textures. It syncs a secondary kick voice to the system clock and allows detailed control over each sixteenth-note subdivision’s volume, pitch, and effects. Users can adjust Length, Pitch, Color, and apply onboard effects such as filters and distortion to each tap, enhancing rhythmic complexity.

Bohm:performer Expander

The Bohm:performer module serves as a left-side expander blending dual kick engines with an external stereo input. It offers side-chain ducking, one-touch DJ-style effects like filters and beat/slip rolls, and full CV assignability. Effects can be routed to kicks, external input, or both, with synchronized toggling for live performance control. The module also balances levels between kick voices and incoming audio, with adjustable sidechain compression depth for mix clarity.
