Decomposer has released Dert, a free distortion plugin built around a single control. The developer is known for Sitala, its drum sampler, and Dert marks the company’s first effect plugin.
One Knob, Four Stages
Turning the knob takes the signal through overdrive, distortion, bitcrush and ring mod. The four stages are crossfaded into one another rather than switched between. As a result, there are no modes to choose and nothing to configure.
Dert was built for drums. Moreover, it is intended as a simple companion to Sitala. However, it will take any source, so it can also be used on synths, bass or other material.
Availability
Dert is free and available for macOS and Windows. It comes in VST3, Audio Unit and AAX formats, therefore it works with most major DAWs.
