Zynaptiq has announced INTENSITY 2, the latest version of their acclaimed audio enhancement plug-in. This update builds upon the original’s core capabilities, adding new algorithms that offer low CPU usage and near-zero latency. The plug-in now supports up to 16 audio channels, making it suitable for immersive audio workflows. Additional features include more BIAS CURVE presets and mid/side processing options, enhancing flexibility for mixing, mastering, and sound design.

Core Features and Workflow Improvements

Conceptually similar to HDR in photography, INTENSITY 2 enhances a sound’s inherent detail, increases perceived loudness, and adds clarity and bite. It operates primarily through a single control, simplifying the user experience. The plug-in includes three proprietary algorithms, an optional soft-knee saturating limiter, and supports mid/side processing. Its workflow is designed to be fast and inspiring, catering to professionals seeking efficient audio enhancement tools.

Technical Specifications and Compatibility

INTENSITY 2 supports channel counts from mono up to 16 channels and works with common sampling rates ranging from 44.1kHz to 192kHz, depending on CPU resources. Stereo instances offer additional mid-only and side-only processing options. The plug-in runs as 64-bit AAX Native, AU, and VST 3 formats. It is compatible with macOS 10.15.x or newer on both Intel and Apple Silicon processors, as well as Windows 10 or newer systems.

Licensing and Activation

The plug-in uses PACE copy protection, requiring a free ilok.com account. Activation can be done on the computer’s hard drive or an iLok 2 or newer USB dongle. INTENSITY 2 is licensed per user/seat and allows dual activations for convenience.

Pricing and Availability

INTENSITY 2 will be officially released on May 19th, 2025, with a suggested retail price of USD 149/EUR 169 (including 19% German VAT). Users of INTENSITY version 1.x can upgrade at a reduced price of USD 49/EUR 55 starting on the same date. An Early Access program is currently available until May 19th, 2025, offering the plug-in at USD 99/EUR 109 or the upgrade from version 1.x at USD 49/EUR 55.

Early Access Program Details

The Early Access version provides the final license and will update to the official release upon download of the latest installer. While mostly stable and well tested, some minor features may still be added, and cosmetic bugs may be present. This program allows users to access the new features ahead of the official launch at a discounted price.

Upgrade Paths and Bundle Information

Users who purchased INTENSITY 1.x between January 1st and April 28th, 2025, are eligible for a free upgrade. Bundles containing INTENSITY 1.x will receive updates in the form of MASTER II and ZAP V bundles, available from May 19th, 2025. Upgrade options for these bundles will also be announced at that time. Users owning ZAP IV along with PUNCH, BALANCE, and PITCHSHIFT PRO can receive a free upgrade to ZAP V by contacting Zynaptiq.

Session Compatibility

INTENSITY 2 ensures backward compatibility with sessions using version 1.x. Version 1.4.1 of INTENSITY 1 has been updated to recognize INTENSITY 2 licenses, allowing users to continue working with existing projects without interruption.
