Intrect has released de-artifact, a new audio restoration plug-in designed to clean up artifacts commonly found in AI-generated music, separated stems, and lossy codec audio. The plugin is available now for macOS and Windows in VST3, AU, and CLAP formats.

What Does de-artifact Do?

de-artifact targets the specific damage left by generative models like Suno, Udio, Stable Audio, MusicGen, and Riffusion. It also addresses issues from stem separation tools and low-bitrate MP3, AAC, or Opus files. The plugin combines harmonic/percussive separation with a learned spectral mask to remove RVQ ghosting, codec residue, and high-frequency aliasing.

It is designed to sit on the master bus or an individual stem. The audio path uses HPSS analysis and a 3.6M-parameter neural network called ArtifactUNet to generate masks for adaptive spectral subtraction. This approach preserves musical content while removing unwanted noise.

de-artifact includes independent harmonic and percussive reduction controls, allowing users to treat vocals and drums separately. It also features eight factory presets, ranging from subtle cleanup to aggressive artifact removal. A four-band emphasis EQ lets you focus the model on specific frequency ranges, while dynamic resonance suppression tames harsh peaks.

Additionally, the plugin offers host-compensated latency, a latency-compensated bypass, and a residual monitor that plays only the removed material. This helps you judge whether you are over-processing the signal.

de-artifact is available for an introductory price of $149 until September 30, 2026. The regular price is $179. The license covers three machines and includes free updates within v1.x. A 14-day full-quality trial is also available, with no restrictions on presets or parameters.

The plugin runs on macOS 11 or later (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows 10 2004 or later with AVX2 support. It requires 8 GB RAM. Notably, there is no AAX version, so Pro Tools users are out of luck. Linux support is on the roadmap.
