Kontakt 8.13 Released: New Metering and Header Overhaul

Native Instruments Kontakt 8.13

Native Instruments has rolled out the Kontakt 8.13 update for its flagship sampling platform. Consequently, electronic music producers gain several workflow refinements across the modernized interface. Most notably, this release introduces direct Level and RMS metering inside the updated Instrument Headers. In addition, users can now monitor output volume without opening deeper panel layers. Therefore, gain staging inside complex multi-instrument patches becomes much faster.

Revamped Navigator and Instrument Headers in Kontakt 8.13

Furthermore, the developer reworked the Instrument and Tool Navigator to streamline session navigation. Specifically, users can now click and drag headers to reorder instruments within a multi. A selection focus indicator also highlights the active instrument instantly. Meanwhile, dedicated buttons for Favorites and Snapshots have joined the top bar. As a result, managing diverse sound presets requires fewer clicks during live production. Moreover, Native Instruments added an updated save dialogue to simplify snapshot organization.

Bug Fixes and Stability Improvements

In addition to interface updates, version 8.13 fixes critical recall issues in digital audio workstations. Previously, instrument snapshot names frequently decoupled from the actual NKI state upon session recall. That bug caused unwanted confusion in heavy scoring templates and electronic music sessions. Consequently, Native Instruments resolved the naming desynchronization across all supported hosts. Furthermore, the team removed the deprecated “New Instruments For You” panel to declutter the workspace. Empty instruments no longer leave residual Performance View graphic artifacts behind. Similarly, broken documentation hyperlinks and hidden character bugs in the Info Panel are now fixed.
