ANTBLANCA has officially released MERG-E, a new sampler instrument designed for Native Instruments Reaktor 6.5. This innovative tool focuses on the exploration and transformation of audio, providing electronic music producers with a powerful platform to push samples beyond their original context. Consequently, MERG-E offers a distinct approach to sound design, enabling users to generate a wide array of textures from a single audio source.

At its core, MERG-E features multiple simultaneous playheads, allowing for up to eight distinct playback streams. Furthermore, it incorporates a system of loop memories and a focused set of sound-shaping tools. The instrument’s unique Dynamic LAYERS system facilitates rapid transitions between diverse sonic results. For instance, producers can effortlessly shift from lo-fi, broken, and tape-like textures to hyper-digital, chaotic, cinematic, or minimal looping structures. This flexibility is managed through a minimalist interface, which ensures that the creative focus remains firmly on sound manipulation.

Intuitive Workflow and Advanced Control

The instrument provides up to eight Loop Slots, which can store different start and end points for the loaded sample. These loop slots can be played or transposed via MIDI notes, adding a significant performative dimension. Therefore, they can be triggered using a MIDI keyboard or sequenced within a digital audio workstation. Loading samples into MERG-E is straightforward, supporting .wav or .aif audio files via drag-and-drop. The amplitude visualizer and waveform display update automatically, providing immediate visual feedback. Additionally, MERG-E includes dedicated processing stages for frequency shifting, skipping, flutter, and crushing, alongside spatial effects ranging from subtle to vast, further enhancing its sound-shaping capabilities.
