Dystopian Waves has released NEUON – Cepstral Morph, a new sound morphing plugin for Windows and macOS. This tool combines the spectral character of two different sounds to create hybrid textures. It processes a main source and a second source via sidechain, offering independent control over formant and texture.

Two Morphing Engines

NEUON includes two processing engines. The Cepstral Morpher handles spectral morphing with separate Formant Morph and Texture Morph controls. A Macro Morph control combines them for quick adjustments. The Filterbank Vocoder offers a vocoder-style approach, suitable for robotic vocals and rhythmic effects.

Frequency-Selective Morphing

The Morph Frequency Range lets you define which part of the spectrum is affected. You can preserve lows from the main source while morphing mids and highs. An interactive spectral visualizer displays incoming and resulting spectra, allowing direct adjustment of the morph range.

Modulation and Presets

Four independent custom curve LFOs with tempo sync are available. Each can be assigned to parameters for evolving or rhythmic modulation. The plugin includes a preset system with 20 factory presets, covering various morphing and vocoder applications.

NEUON is available at an introductory price of $13.99 until October 15. The regular price is $34.99. It runs as a 64-bit VST3 plugin on Windows, and as VST3 and AU on macOS. The macOS version is a Universal Binary, supporting both Apple Silicon and Intel processors.
