OT Eavan: Irish Folk Instruments & Textures Library

Orchestral Tools has expanded its Creative Soundpacks series with the introduction of Eavan, an intimate sample library. This new release is dedicated to traditional Irish folk instruments and also incorporates experimental textures. Curated and produced by Frederik Theyssen, Eavan delivers a close, detailed sound, making it suitable for traditional arrangements, modern songwriting, and cinematic textures alike. Furthermore, this collection aims to provide both authenticity and flexibility for music producers.

Detailed Instrument Selection and Articulations

Eavan features a carefully chosen set of four core acoustic Irish aerophones, alongside traditional percussion. These instruments were meticulously recorded at Resonance Studio in Berlin. Consequently, the library captures the physical details of each instrument within a tight acoustic environment. The collection specifically includes the spry tin whistle, traditional Irish flute, and concertina, representing the Irish aerophones. In addition, the percussion section offers meticulously sampled bodhrán strikes, thumps, and various performance techniques, ensuring comprehensive rhythmic possibilities.

Moreover, the library offers up to 19 articulations per instrument. This extensive range captures standard folk ornaments and conventional performance styles. It also includes sustained, wistful exhalations, providing expressive depth. Beyond the purely acoustic captures, Orchestral Tools has incorporated 13 processed patches. These patches, comprising four pads, six keys, and three plucks, transform the original sound sources. As a result, they function as versatile sound design tools, suitable for a wider variety of modern genres and experimental compositions.

Seamless Workflow Integration with SINEplayer

Eavan operates natively within Orchestral Tools’ proprietary SINEplayer. This advanced interface empowers users to manage system resources efficiently, offering features designed for modern scoring workflows. For instance, Mic Merging allows users to fine-tune their mix using three distinct microphone positions, including close, detailed perspectives. These signals can then be merged into a single, resource-efficient channel within the player. Furthermore, A la Carte Downloads are supported, meaning SINEplayer enables users to download only the specific instruments, processed patches, or microphone setups required for their project. This feature significantly saves local storage space. In addition, On-the-Fly Customization is a core aspect, with standard workflow enhancements such as automatic keyswitch mapping and easy MIDI control remapping supported directly.
