PhotonDSP Releases GammaDelay and WideEngine Plugins

PhotonDSP has released two new audio effects plugins for Windows 64-bit in VST3 format. GammaDelay and WideEngine are now available, each with a distinct set of processing tools.
**GammaDelay**
GammaDelay combines spectral unmasking and tape simulation with effects for shaping delay repeats. The built-in UNMASK system uses 32 ERB-like detectors per channel. It analyzes the dry signal and dynamically attenuates conflicting frequency regions in the delay. Moreover, separate Haas and Detune controls adjust the stereo width of the wet signal while leaving the dry signal unchanged.
The tape simulation uses a 20-process model. It incorporates Random Drift, Chew Drift, Head Bump, Azimuth, Crosstalk, amplitude instability, and Dropouts. It also includes level-compensated saturation and mechanical, magnetic, and machine-noise behavior.
The plugin offers Classic, Dual, and Ping Pong modes. These come with straight, triplet, and dotted note divisions. An additional Flow option provides continuous movement between the left and right channels. The effects section includes separate Diffusion and Wash controls for softening attacks and adding space. Squeeze progressively narrows the frequency range of the repeats. Pitch Shifter allows successive repeats to move up or down in pitch, with an adjustable blend. Drive, Mod, and Color each use a single main control.
The interface includes dry and wet signal visualization. It also has displays for UNMASK activity and selectivity, plus a level meter.
**WideEngine**
WideEngine provides independent Haas and Detune settings across five frequency bands. It offers target-channel selection and an adjustable processing blend for each band. Processing can be applied to the full signal within a band or restricted to its Side component. The plugin also includes a global panning control that redistributes signal between channels rather than functioning solely as a balance control.
PhotonDSP describes the implementation as incorporating protection against level changes and phase distortion. Additional spatial tools include Comb Filter, which distributes complementary frequency regions between the left and right channels. Asymmetric Harmonics applies different even- and odd-harmonic saturation characteristics to the two channels. Micro Reflections uses different delay times in each channel to simulate an asymmetric room. Phase Decorrelation creates time-varying phase differences between the channels.
These processing tools can widen stereo sources, create stereo from mono, add harmonic color, and produce double-tracking-style effects. The interface provides a Mid/Side spectrogram, a stereogram, and a level meter. It also includes flexible monitoring options and ready-made presets.
