Raccoon Audio Releases RoboComp Stereo Compressor Plugin

Raccoon Audio has launched RoboComp, a new compressor plugin that combines traditional dynamics control with creative stereo processing. The plugin is now available for macOS and Windows in AAX, VST3, and AU formats.

RoboComp is designed for mixers who want compression to be fast, musical, and creative. It can tighten drums, shape guitars, control vocals, glue buses, or make effects and reverb tails move in ways a standard compressor cannot. The plugin aims to make mixing fun rather than a chore.

Flexible Compression Controls

The plugin offers a full set of compression parameters. Threshold determines how much signal enters compression. Ratio ranges from gentle control to aggressive shaping. Attack controls how much of the original transient passes through. Release sets how quickly the compressor lets go, and it can be pushed into long, exaggerated movements. Makeup Gain brings the compressed signal back to the desired level.

M/S Focus Stereo Compression

One of RoboComp’s key features is its Mid/Side focus. You can shift the detector and compression focus between the Mid and Side information of your mix. Focusing on Mid controls the center while preserving stereo information. Focusing on Side compresses stereo information independently, creating evolving width effects. Long release settings can produce dramatic stereo blooms, allowing reverb tails to gradually open from mono into stereo.

Corrective or Creative

RoboComp can tighten inconsistent dynamics without overcomplicating the signal chain. It adds punch and sustain to drums, guitars, bass, synths, and vocals. Extreme settings allow for pumping, movement, stereo effects, and sound design. The Mix control provides quick access to parallel compression without needing an additional bus.
