Remi Blaze has released Prismate, a free parametric EQ for macOS. This new plugin offers a straightforward yet effective approach to equalization, with a focus on usability and transparency. It is available as AU, VST3, and standalone versions, making it accessible to a wide range of users.

What is Prismate?

Prismate is a three-band EQ that includes a low shelf, a mid bell, and a high shelf. Each band provides up to ±24 dB of gain, with the mid band featuring a parametric Q from 0.1 to 10.0. Additionally, low and high cut filters are available, with slopes of 12, 24, or 48 dB per octave. The low cut sweeps from 20 to 1000 Hz, while the high cut covers 1 kHz to 20 kHz, giving you precise control over the frequency extremes.

Key Features

One standout feature is Q-Link, which scales the mid band’s Q inversely with gain. This mimics the behavior of analog EQs, where bandwidth narrows as you boost, resulting in a more musical response. Furthermore, the Band Solo function lets you isolate individual bands for precise adjustments, making it easier to hear exactly what you are shaping. Additionally, Auto-Gain matches output levels using RMS, ensuring honest A/B comparisons rather than just louder results.

The Natural Phase mode uses 2x oversampling to prevent curve cramping near Nyquist. This keeps high shelves smooth and avoids brittleness, which is a common issue in digital EQs. Moreover, the plugin includes a 2048-point FFT spectrum analyzer on a logarithmic axis, refreshing at 30 Hz. The live EQ response is overlaid for visual feedback, allowing you to see the effect of your adjustments in real time.

Output levels range from -24 to +6 dB, with a tanh soft clipper as a safety ceiling. The window is resizable from 500×400 to 900×750 pixels, providing flexibility in your workflow. Consequently, Prismate is designed to fit seamlessly into any mixing session.

Prismate Raw

Alongside Prismate, Remi Blaze also offers Prismate Raw, a simplified one-knob version. It uses a single AIR macro to open up the top end, with the shelf and level settings pre-configured. This is ideal for quick air adjustments without deep editing, making it a handy tool for producers who need fast results.

Both Prismate and Prismate Raw are free. They require macOS 15.0 or later and are available as AU, VST3, and standalone applications. Therefore, if you are on the latest macOS, you can download and start using these plugins immediately.
