sonicLAB Releases Creation v2 with 999-Object Spatial Engine

sonicLAB Creation v2

sonicLAB has released Creation v2. This is a major update to its spatial sound design tool. The new version leverages both CPU and GPU power. It can handle up to 999 simultaneous sounding objects on a MacBook Pro M4. The software is built around a gravitational physics engine. Therefore, it offers a truly unique approach to synthesis.

A New Engine for Massive Sound Swarms

Creation v2 introduces multi-core threading. It also includes GPU-assisted compute shaders. This allows for impressive performance gains. For instance, on a Ryzen 3 you can expect up to 400 simultaneous objects. The dynamic voice allocation ensures that the most audible objects always receive processing priority. Consequently, scenes can grow far beyond the voice count without losing important sounds.

Moreover, the engine supports non-realtime disk recording. This mode can address up to 9999 objects. It captures audio and video in full detail, sample-locked. As a result, it is perfect for rendering complex compositions.

Enhanced DSP and Sound Quality

The sound engine in Creation v2 has been significantly improved. A true anti-aliased wavetable oscillator is now included. It uses an 11-level band-limited mip pyramid. This is built by harmonic analysis at load. Thus, it ensures aliasing-free sound even at high frequencies.

Additionally, the granular engine has been upgraded with cubic interpolation. This delivers greater clarity and harmonic detail. Band-limited granular transposition uses a four-level mip pyramid. This maintains quality across pitch shifts. There is also an updated resonant filter. It includes automatic loudness compensation. The distance model has been reworked too. It now separates distance and stereo width. This gives a more convincing sense of depth.

Spatial Audio and Export Options

Creation v2 excels in spatial audio. It offers 32-bit float, 48kHz stereo WAV export. Furthermore, it supports 3rd-order Ambisonic export. This exports 16 channels WAV in AmbiX format. Therefore, it suits surround sound production perfectly.

The bundle includes the standalone application. It also includes the CreationRemote VST3/AU plugin. This lets you control Creation v2 directly from your DAW. It is available for macOS (universal) and Windows 10 or later.

In summary, this upgrade provides a robust set of tools. The performance improvements are substantial. The new DSP features elevate the sonic quality. Overall, it is a compelling choice for experimental sound designers.
