Sound Dust Releases Rebellious Beat Box for Kontakt

Sound Dust Rebellious Beat Box

Sound Dust has announced the release of Rebellious Beat Box, a boutique Kontakt library inspired by the primitive, mangled drum machines of early post-punk and synth-wave. This new instrument takes 64 raw rhythm box sounds and runs them through a Roland Space Echo for analog warmth and preamp filth. The result is a collection of tape-saturated beats with a distinct lo-fi edge.

Unique Velocity Architecture

One standout feature is the inverted velocity architecture. In the lower octave, playing responds to normal dynamics, while the upper octave inverts velocity to trigger deeper delay repeats. This allows for expressive, playable control over the tape delays, making the instrument feel alive and responsive.

Comprehensive Sound Design Tools

Rebellious Beat Box includes 50 drum kits, each built from the 64 processed sounds. A 12-voice pad engine gives you per-pad control over pitch, pan, state-variable filters, saturation, and bad-digital controls. Additionally, the ‘Play Delay’ feature adds off-grid micro-timing, while DynoVerb provides a dynamic reverb that reacts to playing intensity. There are also 42 custom reverb impulses to explore.

Instant Randomisation

For quick inspiration, the one-click randomisation function instantly applies changes to samples, reverbs, pitch, and patch loading. This makes it easy to generate new ideas without diving deep into every parameter.

Pricing and Compatibility

Rebellious Beat Box is available for £35, which is 30% off the regular price until September 30, 2026. It requires the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt 6.7 or higher and is not compatible with the free Kontakt Player. This limitation means you need a paid Kontakt license to use it.
