SuperSerrated v1.1: Major Update for Supersaw Synth

Wavefold Labs SuperSerrated

Wavefold Labs has released version 1.1 of SuperSerrated, their compact supersaw synthesizer. This update brings significant improvements to sound generation and modulation. The synth is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux as VST3 and AU plugins. Additionally, an iOS version works as a standalone app and AUv3.

The v1.1 update focuses on refining the core sound. The width and amplitude of the supersaw stack have been improved. A new velocity modulation control adds expressiveness. Envelope stages now have modulation destinations and curve controls. The AUv3 UI scales properly across different host aspect ratios. General UI tweaks and cleanup round out the update.

Core Features of SuperSerrated
SuperSerrated turns the classic stacked-saw idea into a compact, expressive instrument. You can select from 1 to 11 saws. Then shape the stack with octave, detune, stereo width, and unison mix. Moreover, a sine sub-oscillator and a touch of noise add extra weight. This synth is built for razor-bright leads, deep pads, basses, and brassy chords.

Filter and Movement
A resonant ladder-style filter gives the synth its bite. It offers 12 and 24 dB/octave slopes. Push the drive and resonance for edge. Alternatively, use bass boost to keep wide saw material grounded. Pick between low-pass, high-pass, and band-pass modes. Furthermore, dual ADSR envelopes and dual LFOs keep patches animated. Envelope attack, decay, and release curves are editable. The LFOs offer sine, triangle, saw, square, and sample-and-hold shapes with free-running or tempo-synced rates.

Modulation and Performance
The 7-slot modulation matrix is a highlight. It includes ADSR smoothing curves and multiple sources. Sources include envelopes, LFOs, velocity, note, mod wheel, and aftertouch. Destinations range from filter and oscillator to detune and width. Similarly, velocity and aftertouch support enhance expressiveness. SuperSerrated supports up to 16 voices of polyphony. Poly, mono, and legato voice modes are available. Shared polyphony with up to 16-voice unison and portamento for glides are also included. Therefore, it suits both live performance and studio work.
