Sweet Audio Scintillate Wins KVR Developer Challenge 2026
Sweet Audio Scintillate Wins Freeware Competition
The community voting for the KVR Developer Challenge 2026 has officially concluded. Sweet Audio took first place among fifty-six freeware entries with Scintillate. Additionally, runner-up developer DSPTone secured a top position and updated its Restrukt plugin to version 1.0.2.
Scintillate is an innovative freeware spectral reverb engine designed for creative audio production. Sweet Audio built the plugin natively in the modern CLAP audio format. Furthermore, the DSP algorithms were developed in collaboration with Signalsmith Audio. Open-source wrapper technology ensures seamless compatibility with VST3 and AU plugin hosts across macOS and Windows environments.
Innovative Spectral Processing and Controls
Unlike standard algorithmic reverberators, Scintillate generates tiny spectral sparkles inside the wet reverb signal. Consequently, the effect adds delicate shimmer layers around synthesizers, bell sounds, pads, and vocal tracks. Alternatively, setting higher spawn rates and longer decay values creates massive walls of evolving sound.
Moreover, the onboard density control operates like a colorful spectral gate. This control filters out quieter partials and lets only the prominent spectral reflections pass through. Therefore, sound designers can feed simple synth notes into Scintillate to build continuous, evolving pad atmospheres.
Features
- Spectral sparkle reverb engine co-developed with Signalsmith Audio
- Native CLAP plugin format with VST3 and AU host compatibility
- Density parameter for dynamic spectral gating effects
- Infinite sustain setting for pad creation and ambient textures
- Custom aurora-inspired spectrum display interface
- Free download for macOS and Windows systems
DSPTone Restrukt Updated to Version 1.0.2
Meanwhile, DSPTone followed up its strong competition showing by releasing Restrukt version 1.0.2. Restrukt is a dedicated spatial reconstruction plugin engineered to fix acoustic room bleeding. For instance, producers can easily reduce unwanted room ring and drum sustain while maintaining transient attack.
Specifically, version 1.0.2 refines the multiband sustain reduction module for clearer sound separation. In addition, the update improves the integrated tape drive saturation and shimmer reverb processing. Consequently, electronic music producers can quickly clean up acoustic samples and isolate tight drum tracks in complex mixes.
