Tupos MPE FM: New FM Synth with Direct Modulation

Tupos Audio has released Tupos MPE FM, a new polyphonic FM synthesizer for macOS and Windows. The instrument is designed to make modulation assignment quick and intuitive. Sources such as pressure, slide, and velocity are assigned directly on each knob. The modulation range is visible on the dial. No separate modulation matrix is required.

Direct Modulation and MPE Support

The core feature is direct modulation assignment. Each knob carries a source badge, and you can assign MPE pressure, slide, or velocity right on the control. This approach speeds up sound design. Moreover, the instrument supports MPE with per-note pitch, pressure, and slide. This allows expressive performances on compatible controllers like the ROLI Seaboard or Native Instruments Kontrol S61 MK3.

Three FM Engines and Routing Flexibility

Tupos MPE FM offers three engines with 2, 4, and 6 operators. The 4-operator mode provides eight algorithms. The 6-operator mode opens 32 algorithms and includes a routing matrix for custom modulation paths. Most sounds can be shaped from the main controls. However, when you need more, the matrix gives full routing flexibility, including feedback connections.

The instrument also includes a performance view, an arpeggiator, and a step sequencer. An eight-slot effects chain is built in, with each effect offering its own modulation controls. There are 275 factory presets, many with complete effects chains and expressive routings.
