UJAM LATIGO: Authentic Latin Percussion VST

UJAM has expanded its Virtual Percussionist series with the introduction of LATIGO, a dedicated instrument for authentic Latin American percussion. This new addition provides producers with a comprehensive collection of rhythms and grooves. Professional percussionists meticulously performed these, capturing the intricate nuances and precise timing of South American and Caribbean music traditions. As a result, LATIGO offers a vibrant and expressive rhythmic foundation for various musical productions.
Unlike conventional static MIDI loops, LATIGO operates on UJAM’s proprietary performance engine. This innovative approach allows users to manipulate percussion intensity, feel, and timing in real-time. For example, producers can dynamically adjust performances to suit specific song sections or create spontaneous variations. The library itself encompasses a broad spectrum of traditional Latin styles. These include well-known genres such as Salsa, Merengue, Bolero, and various Afro-Cuban rhythms. Consequently, it serves as a versatile tool for anyone seeking to infuse their tracks with genuine Latin flair.
The instrument’s technical architecture divides into two primary sections: the Performance section and the Micro-Timing section. To elaborate, the Performance section facilitates triggering 20 distinct styles. Each style further breaks down into 23 phrases. These phrases cover essential song elements like Intros, Verses, Choruses, Fills, and Endings, offering a total of 460 patterns. Moreover, the Micro-Timing section provides granular control over the “swing” and “push/pull” parameters. This ensures percussion sits precisely within various rhythmic pockets, synchronizing perfectly with a track. Furthermore, for sound shaping, a “Character” knob offers access to different processed signal chains. These range from clean and transparent to saturated and lo-fi textures. The “Global Mix” section, likewise, integrates optimized reverb and compression for percussive transients, enhancing overall sonic impact and clarity.
