Wavelet Audio EDDA: Authentic Nordic Tagelharpa and Shamanic Percussion

Wavelet Audio EDDA is a specialized library featuring Nordic tagelharpa strings and epic shamanic percussion for NI Kontakt (Works with Free Kontakt Player
NI Kontakt 8.1.0 +). It captures the raw, organic atmosphere of Nordic musical traditions, making it ideal for cinematic folk, Viking-style pagan music, and other genres seeking natural imperfection and emotional depth.

Playable Instruments and Advanced Sequencer

The main instruments in EDDA are fully playable without relying on pre-recorded phrases. Every note and transition, including dissonant combinations, has been sampled to allow a wide range of melodies and harmonies. Additionally, EDDA includes a brand new sequencer with five patterns and MIDI drag-and-drop functionality, enabling users to load, edit, or create sequences from scratch.

Flexible Sound Shaping with Microphone Controls

EDDA offers flexible microphone settings to shape the sound precisely. Users can adjust volume, panorama, and stereo image for each microphone using presets or individual controls. The Big Tagelharpa features two microphones with separate controls for melodic and burdon strings, which can also be pitched down for sound design purposes. Doubletrack effects can be applied to microphones or strings.

Legato Types and Ready-to-Use Phrases

The library provides several legato types, including Rebow Legato, Portamento, Fast, and Trill. Instant Legato triggers legato immediately on note changes, while Restart Seq resets sequences instantly. Many ready-to-use phrases sorted by tagelharpa type and BPM help speed up workflow.

Sampling Techniques and Sound Quality

Wavelet Audio used complex sampling methods such as performance sampling and rebow and attack morphing to achieve realistic performances and smooth legato transitions. Noise reduction is minimal to moderate, preserving natural musical artifacts for authenticity. Strings were sampled in groups to avoid phase issues, with separate sampling for burdon and melodic strings on the larger tagelharpa.

Tuning and Compatibility

The tagelharpa’s tuning is naturally limited but comfortable in D minor and D major. Users can pitch the instrument to fit other keys like C major or C minor. EDDA supports multiple tunings, including DGD for a more traditional sound. The library is licensed for use with the free Kontakt Player and is compatible with Komplete Kontrol and all NKS Standard hardware and software.
