3DigitSamples SynthSYS: Hybrid Mac Synth with Six Engines

3DigitSamples has released SynthSYS, a hybrid synthesizer for macOS. Currently, it is available in AU, VST3 and standalone formats. Additionally, the instrument combines several synthesis methods in one patch. This makes it a flexible option for sound designers and music producers.
Six Engines in Every Oscillator
SynthSYS is built around the idea that a preset is not just a snapshot. It remembers a sound, but not how it was made. Therefore, every sound is made of parts. Each of the four oscillators can run any of six engines. These engines are virtual analogue, wavetable, 6-operator FM, sample and granular, a multisampled ROM, and noise. For instance, an FM bell, a wavetable pad and a sampled texture can play as one patch. The signal then passes through two modelled filters. After that, it reaches an effects section that works like a studio patchbay.
Presets in Independent Parts
Every preset is split into six parts: Core, FX, Motion, Matrix, Macros and Arp. Each part loads on its own. This means you can keep the sound and swap the effects. Similarly, you can keep the effects and try another arpeggio. The instrument is designed to be played, not just programmed. Moreover, a 32-slot modulation matrix with 520 destinations allows deep routing. You can drag any source onto any knob.
Motion, Arp and Effects
Motion provides two lanes of hand-drawn modulation shapes. These shapes are sequenced like notes. In addition, a generative arpeggiator and 64-step sequencer are included. You can pick a key, scale, style and phrase form, and it writes the line. The semi-modular effects section includes six modules. It also contains a Eurorack-style case and a 19-inch rack of 20 outboard units. All of these are connected through a patchbay. Consequently, the routing options are extensive.
