Divisimate 2.1 Update Brings Key Split and USB Support

NextMIDI has released Divisimate 2.1, a free feature update for its real-time divisi orchestration software. The update introduces Key Split, USB connectivity for the iOS remote app DivisiControl, and several other improvements. Moreover, it continues the company’s tradition of responding to user feedback.

Divisimate 2 is a realtime orchestration engine. It spreads a performance across 32 multitimbral ports in a DAW. Composers can build complete playable orchestrations with virtual instruments. The 2.1 update builds on this foundation with user-requested features.

Key Split Functionality in Multipads

The new Key Split option in Multipads lets users divide the keyboard into two or three independent zones. Each zone can play a separate orchestration. Arpeggiators remain synchronized across the split zones. However, each orchestration keeps its own Divisi Engine and routing. As a result, performers can switch between orchestrations seamlessly. For instance, a player might use one zone for strings and another for brass.

USB Support for DivisiControl

Divisimate 2.1 adds USB connectivity for the DivisiControl remote app on iOS. Mac users can connect via USB immediately. Windows users need to install iTunes first to enable the connection. This provides a stable, low-latency alternative to wireless remote control. Therefore, it is especially useful for live performances. In addition, it reduces potential interference from wireless networks.

Transformer Plugin Improvements

The Transformer plugin now includes a toggle for parallel or sequential processing of rows. Previously, all rows processed in parallel. With sequential processing, users can chain transformations within a single plugin. This change allows a value to be transformed and then processed again. The update also adds the ability to reverse values and reorder rows by drag and drop. In addition, these changes make complex signal chains easier to manage.

Key Range Remote

Key Range Remote is now available in Divisimate 2. It was originally introduced in Divisimate Core. Users can assign presets, scale changes, and other functions to keyswitches. This enables fast, hands-on control during composition and performance. Similarly, it enhances workflow for composers using virtual instruments. Eventually, it may become a standard part of the Divisimate workflow.

Divisimate 2.1 is available now as a free update for existing Divisimate 2 users. The update also includes smaller features, improvements, and fixes.
