Foleys Finest Audio Animator: 3D Movement Modulator

Foleys Finest Audio has released Animator, an immersive panner and modulator for sound designers and music producers. The plugin uses the position of a sound source in a 3D space to control multiple effects simultaneously. As a result, movement becomes a creative tool rather than just a spatial feature.

What Is Animator?

Animator lets users move a sound source along a drawn trajectory or via automated parameters. The source’s position then modulates an effects chain. Consequently, realistic soundscapes and exaggerated effects become possible from a single control source. The plugin supports immersive formats from stereo up to 9.1.6. Therefore, it fits both music production and post-production workflows.Moreover, the effects chain is highly flexible. Users can combine delay, gain, filters, shelves, and LFE level in arbitrary order. For instance, delay can simulate a Doppler effect, while filters shape the sound based on distance. Similarly, gain can fade a source in or out as it moves away from the listener.

Modulation and Mapping

A key feature is the free mapping curves. Effect parameters can be mapped to distance, speed, angle, or individual axes. Therefore, the user has full control over how movement influences the sound. The mapping uses a multi-segment graph. This allows precise and creative adjustments.In addition, Animator includes a Pan-Box, Scaling, and Speed Limit. These tools ensure smooth movement and prevent abrupt jumps. Meanwhile, an LFO can move the source along the trajectory automatically. This is useful for evolving textures and rhythmic movement.The preset system is another highlight. It lets users switch between different effect chains without losing geometry settings. Conversely, geometry can be changed while keeping the effect chain intact. This makes experimentation fast and intuitive.
