Joranalogue Flow 3 Auto-Dynamic Filter Available for Eurorack

Joranalogue Audio Design announces availability of Flow 3, an auto-dynamic filter module for Eurorack. The module had its impressive debut at SUPERBOOTH26. It is now available from authorized dealers as of August 25. Thanks to its compact 6 HP panel, it fits into small systems with ease. The unit includes three simultaneous outputs, which is a key advantage.

Compact Design With Three Filter Responses

Flow 3 uses a novel variation on the classic state-variable filter topology. It provides low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass outputs at the same time. The low-pass and high-pass outputs have 12 dB/octave slopes. The band-pass output uses 6 dB/octave slopes. These outputs self-oscillate at phases of 180, 90, and 0 degrees respectively. Consequently, the filter is clean yet distinctive in character.

Resonance response is exceptionally smooth and can easily reach self-oscillation. The temperature compensation and exact calibration help with this. As a result, the module can work as a reliable quadrature sine/cosine VCO. It also retains tight pitch tracking while in this mode.

Auto-Dynamic Control

The main feature is an auto-dynamic filter circuit. A combined decay generator and envelope follower controls the filter frequency. This is achieved over an adjustable range, letting you create complex patterns. You can fire decay envelopes from external triggers. Alternatively, the AUTO mode follows the incoming signal’s amplitude envelope. You can even use both sources simultaneously, if desired. For instance, heavy-hitting kick drums become a breeze with this module.

The filter can also become a spectrum splitter, because its response follows the Linkwink-Riley design at minimum resonance. That means you can separate the audio into low and high parts for dual-band processing. Therefore, the user gets a filter that is not just a filter, but a fortune-teller toolbox. Moreover, the entire Auto Junior Dynamic filter panel graphic tells you exactly what the module does. It gives quick and clear understanding of its main strength.

Technical Details

Flow 3’s panel is 6 HP wide. The module measures 128.5 mm in height and 52 mm in depth. It draws 12 mA. The maximum current range is 45 mA on both +12 V and -12 V rails. It has 100 kΩ impedance inputs and 0 Ω impedance outputs. Due to reversed polarity protection, your Eurorack system is mindful.
