Penteo 8 Adds Independent Decorrelation Controls

Penteo Audio Plugins Penteo

Penteo Audio Plugins has released version 8 of its upmix, downmix, and decorrelation plugin. This update introduces advanced independent decorrelation controls for every upmix dimension. It also brings an enhanced user interface and improved DSP performance.

The new Decorrelation Suite gives sound designers and composers total creative control over individual channels, the Surround bed, LFE, and bass. Each element can be decorrelated independently, which helps create a more enveloping and immersive soundfield. This works while maintaining a bit-exact 100% ITU downmix to 62 audio formats.

Key Features of Penteo 8

The update includes several important additions. First, individual channel decorrelation now supports all seven Atmos channel pairs. Stem Bypass and Passthrough modes have been expanded. A Wide Fader allows precise rebalancing of Lw/Rw channels in 9.x.x formats.

Second, the Surround Divergence dial lets users adjust decorrelation between a tighter front-stage and more spatial diffusion. A Depth Immersion setting keeps front-stage stability while adding ambience to Surround channels.

Third, a synthesized LFE Sub-Harmonic Generator works across three frequency bands. Each band can be muted or linked individually. New one-click controls for music and ITU-R 1384 settings are also included.

Fourth, two bass modes are available. Acoustic Bass mode delivers a warm, full-sounding downmix, ideal for orchestral music. Precise Bass mode is bit-exact and works well for pop and EDM.

DSP Enhancements and Interface

The DSP has been refined. LtRt decoding now offers improved three-channel sound quality. Rapid sonic transition responsiveness has been enhanced, eliminating distortions during silence-to-signal changes. Digital zero mapping ensures absolute silence for zero inputs.

The user interface has a new minimal look. It uses the same layout but streamlines workflow. The 3D Visualizer now displays sound collisions between channels. A new bi-color upper/bed mode further enhances this view.

Pricing and Availability

Penteo version 8 is a free update for existing customers. The Decorrelation Suite is included in Penteo Pro+. New licenses are currently on sale with up to 40% off.

Penteo Pro+ is $799, now $479. Penteo Pro is $499, now $399. Penteo 360 is $299, now $199.
