Remi Blaze Clampit: Free Mastering Limiter for macOS

Remi Blaze Clampit

Remi Blaze has released Clampit, a free mastering limiter plugin for macOS. The plugin works as a lookahead true-peak limiter and is designed to sit last on a master or bus channel. It is available as AU, VST3, and Standalone, and it aims to deliver a clean, streaming-ready ceiling for your mix.

Honest A/B Comparisons

A core idea behind Clampit is fair level matching. The Constant Loudness function applies the inverse of the input gain. As a result, pushing the input harder does not raise the output level. Moreover, the bypass is loudness-matched, and a delta monitor isolates exactly what the limiter removes. Therefore, you can judge a setting on what it takes away instead of on how loud it makes things.

Three Knee Characters and True-Peak Detection

Clampit offers three knee modes. KNOCK is a hard knee for transparent, surgical limiting, GLUE is a 6 dB soft knee for musical results, and CLOBBER combines a hard knee with tanh saturation for aggressive limiting with harmonic color. Switching between modes crossfades over roughly 20 ms, so no clicks occur during live transitions. In addition, 4x polyphase IIR oversampling catches inter-sample peaks for accurate true-peak limiting.

The ceiling runs from -6.0 to 0.0 dB, while the release spans 1 to 1000 ms. Furthermore, a dual-stage program-dependent auto release adapts to crest factor and gain-reduction depth. Lookahead ranges from 0 to 5 ms with automatic DAW latency compensation. Likewise, the stereo link blends from fully independent to fully linked limiting.

LUFS Metering and Workflow Tools

Metering covers full BS.1770 K-weighted LUFS in momentary, short-term, and integrated modes. Additionally, the plugin provides a color-coded crest factor readout, a scrolling gain-reduction trace, a clip counter, a mono check, and TPDF dithering at 16-bit and 24-bit. For workflow, there is A/B comparison, loudness-matched bypass, and 15 factory presets, for instance Transparent Master, Streaming Safe, and Broadcast.

Features

  • Lookahead true-peak limiter with 4x polyphase IIR oversampling
  • Three knee characters: KNOCK, GLUE, and CLOBBER with tanh saturation
  • Ceiling -6.0 to 0.0 dB, release 1-1000 ms, lookahead 0-5 ms
  • Dual-stage program-dependent auto release
  • Full BS.1770 LUFS-M, LUFS-S, and LUFS-I metering with crest factor readout
  • Delta monitor, loudness-matched bypass, and Constant Loudness comparison
  • Clip counter, mono check, and TPDF dithering (16/24-bit)
  • 15 factory presets

System Requirements and Companion Plugin

Clampit requires macOS 15.0 (Sequoia) or later and ships as a Universal Binary for Apple Silicon and Intel. The code is signed and notarized by Apple, and no account is required for the download. Besides the full limiter, Remi Blaze also offers Clampit Raw, a free one-knob companion from the Raw Series. Its single CLAMP knob drives the limiter and lowers the ceiling together, with Constant Loudness forced on for level-matched results.
