The Crow Hill Company has announced the release of CHILDREN’S CHOIR, a new sample-based virtual instrument designed to craft terrifying sounds from a school-age boys’ choir. The instrument is now available with an Early Access pricing offer.
A Unique Sound Source
CHILDREN’S CHOIR captures the ‘beautiful menace’ of a children’s choir, offering a broad spectrum of timbral possibilities. Co-founder Christian Henson explains that the instrument avoids complex MIDI trickery, instead providing simple ingredients that can be mixed and matched. The sound set includes 3.4 GB of uncompressed audio, with up to four round robins, ten shorts, eight sustains, and eight FX, along with three mixable partials and four curated effects macros.
Key Features
The instrument allows for detailed articulation control. Consonants and vowel sounds are mapped to separate key switches, making it easy to mock up realistic choral passages. In addition, a reverb or ‘SPLOSH’ macro offers control over the room ambience, from intimate to expansive. The result is a versatile tool that can add weight and unsettling textures to any composition.
