u-he has officially released Zebralette 3.0, a streamlined synthesizer that takes a core oscillator from their flagship Zebra 3. Alongside this release, they have also introduced the first public beta of Zebra 3, a highly-anticipated modular synthesizer. Zebralette 3.0 is designed to offer a minimal yet powerful synth environment, making it ideal for both beginners and experienced users.

Zebralette 3 Features

  • Single oscillator derived from Zebra 3
  • ADSR and MSEG envelopes
  • Two LFOs and a 6-slot modulation matrix
  • Delay and reverb effects
  • Spline-based waveform editing with morphing options
  • Exportable curve sets as wavetables in .WAV format

Zebralette 3 is not just a simplified version of Zebra 3; it is a functional synth on its own. The new version is significantly less CPU-intensive than its predecessor while maintaining an intuitive interface. Users can enjoy manipulating sounds through various morphing options between curves along a timeline.

Moreover, although Zebralette 3 is not classified as a wavetable synthesizer, it allows users to export its curve sets as wavetables in .WAV format. This feature enables seamless integration with other synthesizers, including u-he’s own Hive.

Zebra 3 Beta Overview

  • Advanced audio generation with spline-based and FM oscillators
  • Multiple filter models and physical modeling devices
  • 4-channel mixer modules and various modulation options

The beta version of Zebra 3 offers a comprehensive modular synthesis experience. It retains the efficient grid-based patching system while introducing new functionalities, such as innovative pitch modules and complex MSEG generators.

Both Zebralette 3 and the Zebra 3 beta can be downloaded from the u-he website and the KVR forum, respectively. Users are encouraged to explore the capabilities of these new tools to enhance their music production experience.
