Granvia Updates FantaMIDI to Version 3.0

Granvia has released version 3.0 of FantaMIDI, a scale-based MIDI generator plugin for Windows and macOS. The update introduces a new arpeggiator, a unified bass layer, and several workflow improvements. As a result, producers can create chords, arpeggios, and progressions without generating out-of-scale notes.

FantaMIDI generates MIDI notes within a selected scale and key. Therefore, users can experiment with harmonies while staying musically consistent. Moreover, the plugin focuses on quick idea generation, which makes it useful for producers across many genres. A demo video is available on YouTube.

New Arpeggiator and Bass Features

The highlight of version 3.0 is the new arpeggiator. It generates arpeggios on straight or triplet grids, including Str1/16, Str1/8, Tri1/8, and Tri1/4. In addition, users can customize the voice count between 2 and 32 voices and generate patterns quickly with 1-beat or 2-beat options. Voicing can be edited dynamically with Thin, Exp, Shr, In1, and In2 functions. Furthermore, playback direction can cycle through Up, Down, UpDown, and DownUp modes.

The bass section has also been consolidated into a single combo box. It now offers straight 16th variations (var1–7) and triplet 16th variations (var2t–7t). Additionally, a new R-bar function randomizes bass pitches per bar, which adds more variation to repeating patterns.

Triplet Grid, New Scales, and UI Improvements

Version 3.0 also adds a triplet toggle for a 6-split piano roll grid. Similarly, Random T and snapped triplet duration settings support random note generation. Six new scales have been added as well: Byzantine, Phrygian Dominant, Hungarian Minor, Hirajoshi, In Sen, and Neapolitan Minor. Consequently, users get more options for exotic and cinematic harmonies.

On the interface side, the UI is now available in three sizes (S, M, L) with adjustable cell height. The editor also includes marquee selection with Shift to add, scroll position memory, a tick-based internal timeline, and an expanded Undo/Redo history with up to 50 steps that restores selection states.

FantaMIDI 3.0 is available now for Windows and macOS. However, a free version is also offered for users who want to explore the basic functionality. In addition, a trial version is available, although it is limited to 5-minute sessions per run and based on version 2.0.
